Reading the Fathers

The Fathers of the ancient Church are the matrix of Catholic intellectual traditions.

Their collective voices laid the foundation for Christian spirituality, theology, and social teaching, and their rediscovery in the twentieth century renewed Catholic thought and influenced the Second Vatican Council. Since most wrote in Latin and ancient Greek, studying these languages allows us to encounter them directly. Students of all levels are welcome to join and make use of English translations as necessary.
